Rammstein (Germany)

Many established Industrial Metal fans are already very familiar with the work of this band, and it is a great place for me to begin, because I have such a huge respect for their work. It is also very visually entertaining, because Rammstein (meaning 'Ram Stone') are particularly well known for the use of Pyrotechnics in their live shows.

Fronted by the deep voiced and largely built Till Lindemann (lead vocals) and supported by Richard Z. Kruspe (guitar and backing vocals), Paul H. Landers (guiter, backing vocals), Oliver "Ollie" Riedel (bass guitar), Christoph "Doom" Schneider (drums and electronic percussion) and Christian "Flake" Lorenz (keyboards).  They hail from Germany, and sing mostly in German, although you will sometimes hear the odd tune in other languages, and every so often, something in English.

Interesting quick facts about this band:

Lindemann has a powerful on-stage presence and a resonant bass voice. One of his signature mannerisms is to partially squat and pound his fist onto his thigh to the beat of the riff; this move is known to Rammstein fans as the "Till-Hammer". His vocals are easily recognizable due to his tendency to roll (all) his Rs, and growl his aitchs.

Lindemann is also a qualified pyrotechnician; after an accident at the Treptow arena in Berlin on 27 September 1996, where a burning stage prop fell into the audience, Rammstein began employing a professional pyrotechnical crew and Lindemann has learned from and also trained with them. Of Lindemann, band mate Christoph Schneider says, "Till gets burned all the time, but he likes the pain".

My favourite Music videos, in no particular order:

Taken from their 2005 Volkerball Tour, live in Nimes, France.

Signature song from the soundtrack of the movie 'Triple X' starring Vin Diesel. Most DVD copies of the film should contain the full concert clip as a feature. Unfortunately it is difficult trying to find a clearer clip anywhere on youtube.

Greetings, and welcome to Goblin TV...

The aim of this blog is to showcase music from the alternative, emo, darkwave, heavy metal and industrial metal genres, and to share my discoveries on my own journey through what is often looked upon as a murky world by 'normal' people.

If you are just starting to take an interest in the above genres, and you would like to learn more perhaps about what is available from a particular country, this is definitely the place to spend a while. Often, much of the music comes from countries that use a different language to English so sometimes it can be difficult searching good stuff up on youtube, so hopefully, I have been able to introduce you to some new bands (some of whom don't get as much promotion on English media channels as they should).

My collection is eclectic, to say the least. But I hope that you will do me the honour of leaving a comment if there is anything you like, or if you have thoughts on any of the videos gathered here. I love to chat to people who have similar tastes to mine.

Lastly, this is a non-profit site, and none of the material contained here is owned by me. All rights to the music shared here belongs to the creators, and this site is only used for the appreciation and promotion of the artists.
